HINDU sage Sadhguru frequently talks about apologising for errors and misjudgments.
Sadhguru said he was sorry when he got caught up in a public controversy a couple of years ago.
He said that “if your mind and your energies are focused on beating yourself up, it would become a series of disasters.”
Apologise unreservedly and move on, is his advice.
Soca star Machel Montano is a major disciple of the apostle of peace and unity.
But Montano offered excuses instead of a wholesale apology when he got into a major tangle in the promotion of a chaos-ridden public Carnival concert.
The highly-popular soca artiste blamed the concert venue and other factors for the lack of preparedness for the event that attracted thousands of patrons.
The delay in opening the Halsey Crawford Stadium and other serious logistical issues irked patrons, who paid top dollar for the signature event.
Then, Montano’s half-baked apology rubbed salt into the wound.
He declined to accept responsibility.
People called on Machel to acknowledge the serious concert woes, apologise and promise to do better.
They felt short-changed by his half-hearted “apology” as they were by the concert issues.
Sadhguru has urged people to take personal responsibility for their actions.
Machel Montano clearly missed that advice.
