THERE is no evidence that President Christine Kangaloo was influenced in her controversial decision to replace the competent Deborah Thomas-Felix as head of the Industrial Court.
THE Government is not interested in discussing the Opposition-proposed Stand Your Ground laws.
That is clear from the latest letter from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar on impending crime talks.
Ms. Persad-Bissessar has been advancing such laws because, as she stated during the Budget debate: “If the Government cannot protect the people, it should give the people the laws and means to protect themselves.”
The slain officer is yet another law-abiding citizen who has lost his life and left his family without a husband and father while the Government is making no effort to curb the crime catastrophe.
