PRIME Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has taken over all major decision-making with respect to Covid-19, according to Cabinet sources.

The decision to seek an extension of the State of Emergency was ratified by the Cabinet but presented and advocated by Rowley.

The Prime Minister was responsible for the decisions to reopen certain sectors and other key matters, the sources confirmed.

With an adequate number of vaccines, the logistical arrangements having been completed and schools set to reopen, most key decisions have been firmed up, it was explained.

Rowley has been closely monitoring international developments, and formalising policies, the sources said.

He is said to be creating a timeline for implementation.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has reportedly hinted to stakeholders that major actions are being taken above his head.

Deyalsingh continues to meet the media on medical matters, but strategies are within Rowley’s remit, the sources said.

He routinely announces decisions at media conferences.
