UNITED States presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is now hinting that he could join the ticket of Donald Trump.
Ramaswamy had previously insisted that he was not interested in serving as Vice President.
The 38-year-old Indian-American biotech multimillionaire said he does not rule out running as vice presidential candidate with 77-year-old Trump.
He said he had “fresh legs” and was “almost half (Trump’s) age.”
Ramaswamy emerged as the breakout star in the first debate among Republican candidates, and this fuelled speculation about him sharing the ticket with Trump.
Trump is, by far, the frontrunner to win the Republican nomination.
Remawsamy, an entrepreneur-turned-politician, is polling second in some surveys.
In previous interviews, he had insisted he was “not interested in a different position in the government.
“Frankly, I’d drive change through the private sector sooner than becoming number two or three in the federal government.”
But, with his popularity surging, Ramaswamy appears to be changing his position.
Ramaswamy has said that if he is elected president, he would want billionaire businessman Elon Musk as an advisor.
He said he wants people with a “blank fresh impression” who do not “come from within” the government.
He added: “I’ve enjoyed getting to know better Elon Musk recently.
“I expect him to be an interesting advisor of mine because he laid off 75 per cent of the employees at Twitter.
“And then the effectiveness actually went up.”
In a previous interview, he stated that “what (Musk) did at Twitter is a good example of what I want to do with the administrative state…
“Take out the 75 per cent of the dead weight cost, (and) improve the actual experience of what it’s supposed to do.”
