THREE are now three Indian-Americans seeking to become President of the United States.
In addition, Kamala Harris, whose mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris was born in India, is returning as the vice presidential candidate of incumbent president Democrat Joe Biden.
Hirsh Vardhan Singh has become the third Indian-American to join a crowded field seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 election.
Singh, an engineer, follows former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
The new candidate, who said he is a lifelong Republican, criticised the “corruption” of big technology and pharmaceutical companies, saying they had “relentlessly attacked our freedoms.”
He said: “There is an all-out attack on American family values, parent rights, and the marketplace of ideas and open debates.”
Singh called Donald Trump “undoubtedly the greatest president of my lifetime.”
He stated that he is “the only pure-blood candidate for president because I did not give in to the Covid vaccinations.
“Even New Jersey Senate president labelled me as Trump on steroids.
“It is time to move past outdated politicians of an outdated era.”
Singh had previously sought to win state office in New Jersey.
