THE Penal-Debe Regional Corporation (PDRC) does not even have enough money to buy diesel for delivery trucks as a water crisis worsens in its community.
Residents of Penal, Debe, Barrackpore, and surrounding areas are enduring a critical shortage of the precious commodity, and have been told by Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) to “take a reference number.”
Several communities within the purview of Princes Town Regional Corporation, such as Tableland, are also without a supply.
Some residents have not seen water in their taps for several days.
The PDRC has been starved for funds, and this has crippled its truck-borne delivery service.
The corporation has been explaining its plight to residents who cry out for a truck-borne supply in order to meet their basic living needs.
All of this is taking place while WASA boasts of historic-high levels at three of its reservoirs and is in the midst of a massive reform exercise.
