TRINIDAD and Tobago-born rapper Nicki Minaj is getting blows from around the world – including from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson – for anti-Covid-19 vaccine statements.
Minaj, formerly of St. James, said that a cousin in T&T got swollen testicles and became impotent as a result of the vaccine, and put off his wedding.
The entertainer, who has 22.6 million social media followers, also said she has not taken the vaccine for the infectious disease.
She stated that she would take the vaccine “once I feel I have done enough research. I am working on that now.”
She ridiculed the wearing of masks.
Minaj has been subjected to criticisms from public figures and the media from around the world, including in Europe.
Johnson dismissed Minaj, and his top doctor took a broad swipe against the rapper.
Her comments have cast T&T in a bad light, according to some media commentators.
She was accused of misusing her popularity to spread misinformation.
Minaj played mas with the band Tribe in 2020 T&T Carnival.
During her visit, the 37-year-old hailed her T&T roots.
