MODI IS MAN OF THE MOMENT

INDIA’S Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged from the G20 Summit with an even greater international standing.

PM Modi was hailed for his “decisive leadership” at the conference and his stewardship of the organisation of the world’s most powerful economies.

The conference was hosted by India.

Modi was also praised for continuing to champion the issues of the so-called “Global South,” the world’s developing countries such as those of the Caribbean.

Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak captured a popular view in stating that under India’s leadership, “we have demonstrated that we can come together at a time when it matters.

“When you walk around in ‘Bharat Mandapan’ and see the displays, we can see what PM Modi, the digital initiative and technology can do – delivering service to people in remote corners of our nations.”

Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida heralded Modi’s “great leadership” of the G20.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged the strengthening of cooperation among G20 countries based on “the foundation created by the Indian presidency.”

The African Union (AU) thanked Modi for promoting matters of the Global South.

The Indian leader was praised by Joe Biden, President of the United States for involving the AU, “reminding us that we have the capacity to tackle challenges together.”

Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, congratulated Modi on his “wisdom” to bring the AU to the table.

Several other leaders, including those of Bangladesh and South Africa, hailed the Indian Prime Minister for involving the AU and promoting the interests of developing countries.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio da Silva thanked Modi and the people of India for their competence in organising the G20 Summit.

Da Silva said he was touched when he went to page homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

“Gandhi has great meaning,” he said. “Non-violence is a principle I follow.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that “you have gathered us here to discuss ‘One Future’ is very important.”

Leaders of Spain, Mauritius, and Mexico also heaped praises.

World Bank President Ajay Banga said: “I compliment India and its leadership as also all other G20 leaders for making sure that such a terrific declaration was achieved.”

Through his visionary leadership of the G20 and his inclusion of the “Global South,” Modi emerged as the international man of the moment.

The theme of the two-day summit was “We are one earth, one family, and we share one future.”
