POLICE investigators are probing reports that a family squabble over ownership of lands led to the murders of mother and daughter Savitri Sooklal and Arianna Sangeeta Balgobin.
The duo was murdered at their Soledad Road, Claxton Bay home on Friday.
They were described by Member of Parliament David Lee as “lovely and kind-hearted,” and also as “two genuine souls.”
The mother and daughter were involved in an on-going row, which led to a family member recently leaving for another country to ensure his security.
Accusations were made about Sooklal, 60, and Balgobin, 21, with respect to the value of the disputed property.
Ibn recent weeks, they were said to have been concerned about their safety.
One person allegedly involved in the quarrel is reportedly knowledgeable about the slayings.
The bodies of both women were found in the home, with gunshots to their heads.
The murders have stunned the quiet Soledad community.
St. Margaret’s Police are investigating the killings.
