JAMAICAN Prime Minister Andrew Holness has fired Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Floyd Green for breaching Covid-19 protocols.
Green was seen at a social function during one of Jamaica’s No- Movement Day.
No-Movement Days refer to a total lockdown of the country in an effort to stem the spread of the highly contagious virus.
Holness was reported to be livid after seeing a video of Green at the function, at which he toasted with other party-goers.
The Prime Minister called in Green for a meeting.
At the end of the session, Holness issued a statement in which he said that “it was agreed that (Green) would no longer continue to serve in the Cabinet.”
Holness’ swift and decisive action is contrary to what has taken place in Trinidad and Tobago, where several prominent people have escaped prosecution after being caught partying in the midst of Covid-19 restrictions.
Green would become a government parliamentary backbencher.
