GOVERNMENT Minister Donna Cox’s surname is “foul, dirty and obscene.”
Yes, seriously.
If Ms. Cox was serving in public office in Utah in the United States, she would likely have faced a call from an anonymous “very concerned citizen” to change her surname.
That is exactly what the unnamed citizen of the State did with respect to Governor Spencer Cox.
The citizen wrote to the governor stating that “the Republican party will not stand” for his “foul, dirty and obscene surname.”
The letter went on: “Most importantly, I will not stand for it.”
The governor was told that until he changes his surname, “myself and thousands of Uthans will be sitting in protest, not standing.”
The citizen added: “This is a social justice issue and we will not be denied basic human decency.
“We will not accept sick jokes to run rampant in our civil institutions.”
Governor Cox took the condemnation in stride.
He wrote on Twitter: “Really grateful for the criticism and constructive feedback I get from constituents that demand I … change my name.”
As for Minister Donna Cox, fortunately she is serving in Trinidad and Tobago, where she faces criticisms only for her performance and periodic gaffes.
