CNC3 LAUNCHES JW’S BARATARIA CAMPAIGN

IN one fell swoop, CNC3 television station has launched the general election campaign of PNM politician Jason “JW” Williams.

JW, a soca singer and urban radio tattler, has been given the plum post of hosting Morning Brew, the two-hour hard news talk show.

The programme ought to place politicians and other top newsmakers on the spot on national affairs.

The new host’s CV includes playing rap and dub music and rendering the 2010 road march Palance, along with his pal Ancil “Blaze” Isaac.

In 2020, Williams morphed into the PNM’s candidate for the marginal constituency of Barataria-San Juan.

He secured 7,240 votes, to 8,300 by the UNC’s Saddam Hosein.

But keen political observers have noted that a number of government projects are underway within the constituency, which, they anticipate, would strengthen the PNM’s case at the next general election.

The PNM last won the swing constituency in 2007.

Hosein has complained of the distribution of an unusually large number of hampers by State agencies, including Namdevco, to residents within the electoral constituency.

PNM strategists are known to be placing high emphasis on growing the party’s support within the communities.

Several CNC3 employees have expressed surprise at the selection of Williams, who does not have a news background.

There have been open criticisms on social media.

One person, Donny Rogers, wrote: “So wait… so a full and open PNM running the show now?”

UNC Senator Anil Roberts said: “No more pretence. Pure PNM poison on the Brew.”
