CENTRAL BANK: TRAIN 1 AFFECTING GAS LNG OUTPUT

THE Central Bank has stated that the continued closure of Atlantic LNG has resulted in a 44.9 percent drop in LNG output over a two-month period.

“The lack of available natural gas resulted in the Atlantic Train 1 LNG facility being taken down (closure) at the end of 2020,” the bank said in its latest economic bulletin.

“The plant has been placed in an ‘operations-ready mode,’ which will facilitate a quick restart when the required natural gas becomes available.

“The downtime at this facility, coupled with the planned maintenance operation at LNG Train 11 during March 2021, resulted in a 35.3 percent slide in LNG production during the first quarter.”

Overall, there was a 32 percent plummet in the refining sub-sector.

Natural gas production fell by 23 percent year-on-year.

Ammonia production declined by 9.9 percent.
